Hello r/SoloDevelopment

My name is Ivan, solo developer behind Into the Crypt and the game is now out in full 1.0 release with a 15% discount!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1879270/Into_the_Crypt/

It's a first-person roguelike deckbuilder taking familiar elements and core deckbuilding fundamentals from Slay the Spire while 'carving' out its own dungeon-crawling path.

The game boasts a massive amount of enemies and unique mechanics and interactions which are unique to the deckbuilding genre, such as:

  • robbing other player tombs of their decks or 'paying your respects' in solo and co-op (these are real cards they earned during their run)
  • playing keys/cards on doors to progress through a run (a means of thinning your deck)
  • playing keys/cards on the environment during combat (combat escape/breakable treasures)
  • brewing mid-combat, commanding two allies during combat, manipulating card resources
  • banishing cards during a run
  • shopkeeper interactions that affect how certain decisions play out during a run

Other features:

  • solo and 2-player co-op (Steam friend / lobby code)
  • 3 distinct classes, each with their own custom decks, hundreds of cards across 5 rarities
  • massive roster of enemies with distinct behavior, reactions, and phase-based effects
  • encounter types: combat, rest, event, treasure, shop, crypt vault, altar, imbue station, mystery
  • artifacts (relics in STS) that are interactable, some are 'dormant' until unlocked, some can be played on enemies or used during combat
  • crypt mastery system woven into the game in such a way that the experience remains 100% roguelike while intelligently offering item variety as a player progresses through their save file
  • class rites (class evolution), shopkeeper sparring, slots
  • alternate starter cards as you progress through a save slot, offering new ways to play a class
  • dozens of status effects (70+) that really challenge how you handle each battle
  • multiple crypt environment 'biomes'
  • crypt lore
  • card imbues (powering up cards)
  • 'daily delve' mode
  • 10 levels of increasing difficulty (descents)
  • multiple leaderboards, achievements, full save system (Steam cloud enabled), GeForce now enabled

Probably the greatest achievement for the game is its 155+ enemies with thousands of animations (2700+) that are brought to life by our many talented animators over the years.

This game has been simultaneously a complete joy to work on while also serving as one of the most challenging endeavors as well.

We are 5+ years into its creation, with artists (including Dan Vitoria, who worked with Outbound), animators, and music composer (Dirk J. Neefs).

I hope you check out the game (especially if you're a deckbuilder lover) and continue with us in this journey as the game evolves with future updates.
